From time to time, Research in Motion (RIM) will provide software updates to improve your phone's performance and reliability. It's important to update your phone to the latest software to ensure the best user experience. Please see our simple instructions for updating your BlackBerry software.
If you've lost data connectivity or transferred your number from another carrier, your phone may need a network profile update to access the internet. Please follow the simple steps below to update your network profile. If your phone tries to automatically update the network or device connection at any time during this process, let it complete those updates before you continue with the remaining steps.
Before you get started, please make sure that the mobile network is connected and Wi-Fi is disconnected. You can do this by swiping up the navigation bar to open the All panel on the home screen, and then selecting Manage Connections (
). If Mobile Network is unchecked, check it. If Wi-Fi is checked, uncheck it.
Once Wi-Fi is off and the mobile network is on, you can update your network profile:
- Take the battery out of your phone for at least 30 seconds.
- Reinsert the battery. Your phone should automatically restart. If not, hold down the End/Power
key (
) for a few seconds.
- Once your phone has restarted, unlock the screen if necessary, and swipe up the navigation bar or double-press the Menu key (
) to open the All panel.
- Scroll to and select Manage Connections > Networks and Connections > Mobile Network.
- Press the Menu key and select Update Profile. The update may take a few minutes to complete.
- Tap OK when prompted.
- When the update is done, test your data connection by using the browser to access any website. We recommend credoaction.com.
