Samsung Array diagram
What the keys do

Talk key: Allows you to make or answer calls and call waiting, use 3-way calling or activate Voice Dial.

Menu/OK key: Lets you access the phone's menus and selects the highlighted choice when navigating through a menu.

Navigation key: Allows you to navigate through the phone's menu options by pressing in the direction you'd like to move. For example, press the bottom portion of the key to scroll down in a menu. Each side of the Navigation key can also be programmed to act as a shortcut key from your home screen. See your user guide for instructions.

End/Power key: Lets you turn the phone on or off, end a call or return to your home screen from another screen. When you receive an incoming call, press once to mute the ringtone or twice to ignore the call.

Speaker key: Turns speakerphone on and off.

Back key: Deletes characters when you're typing text or a phone number. When in a menu, it returns you to the previous menu, closes a dialog box or exits an on-screen menu/option.

QWERTY Option keys: Lets you select the soft key actions or menu items at the bottom left or right of the screen when your phone is rotated to use the keyboard or camera.

Enter text with your QWERTY keyboard

The slide-out keyboard has the same layout and works just like the keyboard on a computer. Most people find it easiest to use their thumbs to type.

Here are the main keys you'll need to know:

Left side

shift button Shift
function button Function
symbol key Symbol

Right side

delete button Delete
return button Return

To use the keyboard:

  1. In a text-entry screen (such as when you're composing a text message), slide open the QWERTY keyboard.
  2. Enter text.
    • To change capitalization, press the Shift key.
    • To enter the alternate character (in orange) on a key, press the Function key and then press the desired key.
    • To enter symbols, press the Symbol key. You can scroll through options with the arrow keys in the bottom right corner of the keyboard. To select a symbol, press the number key corresponding to it in the list. (You can enter most common symbols directly from the keyboard by pressing the Function key first.)

Please note: When you're using the slide-out keyboard, press the QWERTY Option key below a soft key action or menu item to select it.
