Smartphone Apps FAQ
Basics
Be aware when purchasing content from third-party vendors. Some content downloads may automatically enroll you in an ongoing subscription service. Subscription services are a fine way to purchase content, so long as you are aware of the details and you are clear on how to cancel at any time.
If you purchased subscription-based content from a third-party vendor, please refer to the specific vendor's website for cancelation instructions. (Often, they require that you reply STOP or QUIT to the shortcode that came with your game or app. This process varies, however, so please check with the provider first.)
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system. A GPS-enabled phone can communicate with this system to determine its location. This feature on mobile devices can be used for location-based services and navigation applications.
Advanced navigation and features such as turn-by-turn audio directions, are available from third-party sellers. These applications are sold for a one-time price or an ongoing monthly subscription fee, and require a data plan for web access.
The BlackBerry® smartphones are pre-loaded with the free BlackBerry® Maps application which lets you view maps and receive directions on your BlackBerry® smartphone. It provides step-by-step directions to your destination, and lets you search for businesses, restaurants and addresses nearby. BlackBerry® Maps does not provide audible turn-by-turn directions.
Google Maps is another free app that can show locations on a map and provide point-to-point directions. Visit m.google.com/maps from your phone's browser to determine if Google Maps is available for download to your handset.
TeleNav GPS Navigator is an enhanced navigation app that provides turn-by-turn driving directions by voice and on-screen, similar to a stand-alone GPS system. If you miss a turn, TeleNav will automatically reroute you. Locate, call or navigate to rated and reviewed restaurants, hotels, ATMs, Wi-Fi® hotspots and more from a directory of over 10 million businesses. Telenav requires a paid subscription. Visit the GPS category in the Applications section of the myContent store from your phone to determine pricing and availability of Telenav.
Most content and applications for smartphones are sold by third-party companies rather than directly billed through the mobile carrier. Our two preferred partners are BlackBerry® App World™ and Handmark, Inc. Handmark accepts most major credit cards; BlackBerry App World accepts PayPal.

BlackBerry allows multiple applications to run at once. To save your battery make sure you close any applications you aren't using rather than allow them to run in the background. Press the ESC key, not red End key, to close an application. Also be sure to log out of third-party applications when they are not needed (Instant Messaging, etc.)
Handmark
- Go to Handmark's site. www.handmark.com
- On the site - select your handset model and type application name into the search box.
- In order to download the application you'll need to set up an account. Handmark charges downloads to a credit card, debit card or PayPal account that you provide. Handmark is a partner that CREDO recommends to our customers for Smartphone content. In addition to the BlackBerry, Handmark offers content and applications for many other phones including almost all smartphones and some standard phones.

If you've purchased software from www.handmark.com, you can access your serial numbers and download or re-download your Handmark purchases from your My Handmark account.

Don't forget to provide a short description on why you want a refund.

BlackBerry App World™
Simply visit www.blackberry.com/appworld/download from your smartphone to download.
Visit the Research in Motion (RIM) support site.
The latest version of BlackBerry App World includes a memory status bar so you always know exactly how much memory you have. When you've exceeded your memory, a message will appear to help you free up more space.
Google Play™ Apps
On your Android™ phone, go to Home, select menu > all programs and find the Google Play icon.
If you are accessing Google Play for the first time, you will need to setup a Google account as the Google Play Application requires association with a Google Account. Google Play can walk you through setting up a new Google account, or logging in with your existing Google account. Click on Google Play to start the setup process.
Google Play uses Google checkout as the method of payment. If you have setup Google checkout on your Google account, you will be able to choose the credit cards saved in Google checkout. If you have not setup a default credit card, it will prompt you for your credit card information.
For support on a particular application, contact the application developer directly. Go to the downloads section in Google Play for support information on an application that you have downloaded and installed on your phone. Select the application within the downloads screen and scroll down to the "About the developer" section. Contact information such as the developer's website, e-mail and phone number should be listed for any support questions.
If you change devices, you can install previous purchases by making sure you sign into your device with the same Google Account you used on your previous phone.
Your application purchases are tied to your Google Account and can be installed an unlimited amount of times on any device. So, for example, if you remove 'My Favorite Game' to save memory, you can reinstall it at a later date with no charge by simply visiting the Downloads section within Google Play.
