805,991 v. Clarence Thomas
1,842 calls to Congress
269,973 messages to Palin

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas debased his high office with an utter lack of ethics and integrity. He attended a Koch Brothers retreat and then voted for the Citizens United decision that benefited the Kochs. He failed to report, as required, that his wife was paid by the Heritage Foundation. On the day the Court heard the challenge to the health care reform law, Thomas attended a dinner sponsored by the firm challenging the law. The list goes on. More than 805,991 CREDO members signed petitions calling for him to at least recuse himself from the health care case, if not resign from the Court. CREDO will continue to make the case against Justice Thomas.

There has been an extreme rise in violent rhetoric by the right wing, euphemistically referred to as “Second Amendment remedies.” Sarah Palin not only used such rhetoric with her “Don’t retreat, reload” slogan, but posted a map targeting 20 Democratic members of Congress with crosshairs, and bragged that 18 were gone, leaving Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and Rep. Nick Rahall. In January, Rep. Giffords was shot, along with 17 others, at a public event in Arizona, and six of the victims died. In a petition, CREDO asked Palin to renounce violent rhetoric and imagery, and to acknowledge that words have consequences, and 269,973 members signed the petition.
