Battery-Saving Tips
expand allcollapse all
Your HTC Detail 4G does a whole lot of incredible things at some pretty incredible speeds. But these things all take battery power. Here are a few tips to get the most out of your battery when you're on the go:
- Turn off wireless functions such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 4G when you're not using them. From the home screen, press MENU > Settings > Wireless & networks and turn off or on the features you wish.
Please note: 4G is used only for data. Turning it off won't impact your voice services.
- Turn off GPS when you don't need it. From the home screen, press MENU > Settings > Location and turn off GPS satellites.
- Lower the screen brightness. From the home screen, press MENU > Settings > Display > Brightness and adjust the settings to your liking.
- Switch off screen animations. From the home screen, press MENU > Settings > Display > Animation and make a selection.
- Avoid live wallpapers as these drain your battery much faster than regular wallpapers.
To make it even easier to turn features off and on and adjust your screen brightness as needed, we recommend adding the Power Control Widget and 4G Widget to your home screen.
To add the Power Control Widget:
- Press and hold an empty spot on the home screen or press MENU from the home screen and tap Add to Home. The Add to Home menu will appear.
- Tap Widget > Power Control.
- If there's not enough free space on the screen, slide to a screen with enough space, and try again.
To turn features off and on, simply tap them.
Email synchronization can have a big impact on your battery life. In general, the less frequently you synchronize the better your battery life. You can choose peak and off-peak hours and adjust the frequency for each based on your needs.
For Pop3/IMAP or Exchange ActiveSync accounts: From your inbox, press MENU > More > Settings > Send & Receive > Update schedule.
