- Enter a phone number using the phone keypad. (The number will appear just above the keypad as you enter it. Tap
to delete any mistakes.)
- Tap
to dial.
- Tap
when you want to hang up.
To answer a call: Drag the phone icon to the right.
To send a call directly to voicemail: Drag the phone icon to the left.
To respond to a call with a text message: Drag the phone icon up to the messaging icon and tap the message you'd like to send. It will send immediately.
To change the preset text messages you can send from the lock screen: Open the Phone app, and then press
> Settings > Quick responses. Tap a message to edit, make your changes and tap OK.
When you're on a call, call waiting alerts you to incoming calls by beeping. The screen will let you know that another call is coming in and displays the caller's phone number if it's available.
You can answer the call, send it to voicemail or respond with a text message the same way you would for any call.
To switch between callers:

at the bottom of the screen.
You can search your contacts by name.
- Press People
at the bottom of your home screen or on the All Apps screen.
- Press
.
- Enter the first letter or letters of a contact. (The more letters you enter, the more specific the search.) All contacts matching the entered letters will be displayed.
- Tap a contact to display its details.
- Press People
at the bottom of your home screen or on the All Apps screen.
- Make sure the All tab (
) is selected and tap
.
- If asked, choose which account you'd like to add the contact to. Tap any field and use the keyboard to enter the name, phone number and other contact details.
- To change the phone, email or address type, tap Mobile or Home and select a new option from the list.
- Tap the photo box next to the name to add a photo if you'd like.
- To save the contact, tap Done at the top of the screen.
